49 Huron St. Your hosts, Kelly Godfrey & Eric Norcross, purchased the house at 49 Huron Street at the end of January 2008.

The property had been the home of the McCaul family since the 1940s (photo at right is from 1945 - click on it to see a larger version).

The house was very well maintained structurally and mechanically but needed extensive remodeling and updating to transform it into a Bed & Breakfast. We added 4 bathrooms, installed new ceilings, placed soundproofing material wherever possible, revealed and refinished the hardwood maple floors that we found under carpeting, and much, much more. Finally in September of 2008 we were inspected by the City of Stratford and obtained our B&B licence.

Check back here as we add details and photos of the renovation.

Below are photos of the front of our house. The left is before the renovation.
The right shows an arched window we installed in the bathroom space we created for the Grover Suite. We were fortunate to find the window at the Stratford ReStore.

Speaking of the Grover Suite bathroom, below are before and after photos of it. The space was originally an open-air porch (see 1945 photo above) and later it was converted into an enclosed, unconditioned sitting room with wood paneling covering the brick. We took the space and installed a bathroom and a sunporch.
